When I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, I dreamed of making a difference and protecting the planet. Oh, how naïve I was! Turns out that at the time, there were not many jobs available in my field. (Why didn’t anybody tell me that, before I took out all those student loans!?)
Since job opportunities were limited, I looked for other ways to have a low impact on the planet and live simply. I began practicing sustainable living in my personal life—using natural products, recycling, conserving energy and water, spending time with a few close, like-minded friends, and enjoying the outdoors to live more simply and mindfully.
Over the years, multiple moves and life changes pulled me away from my eco-friendly habits. I’ve become disassociated from my passions, caught up in more, and have a general dissatisfaction with life and a lack of purpose. My current work as a Case Manager in a Federal Halfway House is rewarding at times, but far from my passion for environmental stewardship. I don’t really have a social life, my home needs serious decluttering, I crave more time in nature, and I still drive my beloved (but not eco-friendly) Ram truck—though I strive to offset my impact in other ways.

Now, my husband and I live off-grid in Arizona with solar power, where I’m rediscovering the joy of mindful living, frugal habits, and intentional choices. I’ve been inspired by countless books and blogs on sustainability, minimalism, and slow living, and I’m committed to creating a lifestyle that’s healthy, purposeful, and in harmony with the planet.
Through Your Extraordinary Life Journey, I share tips, stories, and inspiration for simple living, eco-friendly habits, mindful routines, and budget-friendly ways to live well. Join me as I work to make my ordinary life extraordinary—and help you do the same.
